MEET THE filmmakers

DAVID HAMBRIDGE | DIRECTOR

David is an award winning commercial and documentary filmmaker currently based in Raleigh, NC.  He began filming 'The Last Male Standing' immediately following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014.

Instead of taking a traditional approach to Sudan's story, David narrows the focus on the people that care for and protect him, evoking emotion within the highly intimate moments that the characters share with the audience.  To David, Sudan's story is about the legacy and relationships surrounding him that will live on well past his last breath.  As a result, viewers are able to identify with the film's characters in a meaningful way, creating a connection that will trigger an assertive emotional response.

ANDREW HARRISON BROWN | PRODUCER

Andrew has traveled the world telling the stories of cultures often overlooked and under-appreciated. As a humanitarian, Andrew stumbled into a film career while working with numerous non-profit organizations in North America, South America, India and Africa. Through this experience, he witnessed how stories told through images transcended barriers and acted as levers for change.

Most recently as a producer, Andrew produced WHEN LAMBS BECOME LIONS (Tribeca 2018); Directed by Emmy award-winning Jon Kasbe, Executive Produced by Oscar-nominated Matt Heineman.  WHEN LAMBS BECOME LIONS was a grant recipient of Sundance Institute's Documentary Production Fund Grant in 2017.  Andrew is also the founder of Ragtag Tribe Films.

'The Last Male Standing' is an independent documentary feature that began production following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014.

REAL LIVES, REAL IMPACT:

High impact documentaries can make an incredible difference.  That's a fact.  When you support The Last Male Standing, you are supporting verité documentary storytelling from the ground level that is intimately exposing what extinction looks like, what it feels like, and if science can defeat it.  Our characters have granted us their personal trust and story-rights founded on multiple self-funded trips back to Kenya until we basically went broke.  We've built lasting relationships with our characters and ground team, ones that will outlast the production of this documentary. Our story reflects that.

WHO BACKS OUR FILM:

We are an independent feature film with fiscal sponsorship from Southern Documentary Fund (501c3). A percentage of all donations made to 'The Last Male Standing' go directly towards conservation, particularly in saving the northern white rhinos from extinction. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a supporter of our film, granting us unprecedented access to the story of the northern white rhinos.
